Latin American and Colombian art have recently come into world focus. The international community has been discovering an exciting universe of ideas and cultures that for years had been a hidden treasure of artistic expressions. Suddenly today they are at the forefront of global collections, art fairs, museums and galleries. Colombia has flourished and is the focus of international investors in all fields including art. Recently, Colombia’s artists, curators and institutions were featured at the famous ARCO fair in Madrid. The artists presented at this fair use a wide range of techniques from traditional painting to photography, sculpture, and assemblage.

At the Dallas Art Fair, Beatriz Esguerra Art will feature a special exhibit by Pedro Ruiz, composed of six kpaintings, titled “Natural Gold.” The exhibit invites the observer to preserve Colombia’s and the world’s most precious natural values and treasures, strengthening his message with very simple but beautiful images. The calm and unassuming appearance of the works evokes images of eastern mysticism that reinforce a direct and powerful invitation to reflect, to contemplate upon the urgency of mankind to reconnect to the natural world, a vital relationship necessary for the continuing evolution of humanity and today’s world.

Pedro Ruiz’s has exhibited widely in galleries and museums throughout Colombia and internationally. His works can be found in significant institutional and private collections. His series made uniquely for museums, Gold, Spirit and Nature of a Territory, has been exhibited in Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Japan, amongst other countries. For the past few years his work as been successfully auctioned off at Chrities NY Latin American Sales, repeatedly surpassing the estimates. In 2011, Ruiz was knighted by the French government with the Order of Arts and Letters, and has most recently been named Goodwill Ambassador to Unicef for his social contributions in Colombia.
