Artificial Nature - Anibal Gomescasseres
January 30, 2014 - February 20, 2014 Bogota, Carrera 16 # 86A-31
Creatively making use of technological resources, light and a certain duality to express himself, Aníbal Gomescásseres commits his work to alternate realities using a game of irony and sobriety, observing from a reflective point of view according to context and following the intention behind each piece.
In his series Light Atmospheres, Gomescasseres invokes the idea of person-space. Using lightboxes, he depicts spaces in solitude in which only the warmth of light can enter. The human figure disappears and a gasp of sobriety is displayed. In doing so, the artist engenders a feeling of vain spaces that credit their essence to their very own value: the weight of the elements is omitted in the composition, creating an introspection in the intimacy of the spectator.
Gomescasseres’ work has been exhibited in Colombia, in galleries such as La Cometa and Beatriz Esguerra Art in Bogota. Internationally, his work has been featured in galleries like Art Fusion, Design District Miami, Art Shanghai, China and Kais Gallery Tokyo, Japan. He has participated in international art fairs including Art Basel, Art Korea and Art Shanghai. His work was published in the renowned art magazine, The New Collectors Book, New York. Gomescasseres graduated from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, and the Academia Superior de Artes of Bogota, Colombia ASAB.
